Participated in the Future of Human Rights Writing Workshop, held at Lund University, Sweden, from September 11 to 15, 2023. This prestigious workshop was organized by the Raoul Wallenberg Institute (RWI) in collaboration with the Faculty of Law at Lund University, as part of the broader Future of Human Rights project. The initiative was generously funded by the Marianne and Marcus Wallenberg Foundation.

All travel, accommodation, and participation expenses were fully funded by the workshop organizers.

Presentation Title: "The Principles of the UDHR and the Socio-Cultural Orientation of Bangladesh: A Critical Analysis of 'Human Rights as Given' and 'Human Rights as Fought For"

Dr. Rana delivered an oral presentation on the above topic, receiving formal recognition and appreciation for his research contribution during the EMSSH-24 conference, held under the auspices of EARHM. The paper critically examined the intersection between universal human rights principles, as outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), and the specific socio-cultural context of Bangladesh, exploring the conceptual distinctions between inherent and hard-won human rights.

1. National Workshop with Academics on Teaching Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants

Theme: International Criminal Law ? Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants Date: March 2023

Location: Dhaka, Bangladesh

Participated in a national academic workshop focused on enhancing the teaching of International Criminal Law, with a specific emphasis on Trafficking in Persons (TIP) and Smuggling of Migrants (SOM).

The workshop was organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and was led by the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of Bangladesh. The initiative was funded by the European Union (EU) as part of broader efforts to strengthen academic and institutional responses to human trafficking and migrant smuggling in line with international legal frameworks.

2. Teaching International Environmental Law in Asia (TRILA-IEL) Workshop

Focus Area: International Environmental Law

Participated in the TRILA-IEL workshop aimed at strengthening the teaching and scholarship of international environmental law across Asian academic institutions. The program focused on pedagogy, curriculum development, and regional legal challenges in environmental governance.
