The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS), in collaboration with Machine Learning Bangladesh, Major League Hacking (MLH), Google for Developers, Gen.xyz, and Featherless AI, successfully organized the foundational โ€œBuild With AI Hack Daysโ€ on May 12, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 6:30 PM. The fast-paced, invite-only, in-person mini-hackathon brought together student developers at the UITS AI Laboratory to strengthen local technical capabilities, accelerate practical software engineering, and foster rapid technological innovation using modern AI ecosystems. The program commenced with inspiring opening remarks from Al-Imtiaz, Associate Professor and Head of the CSE Department, and Engineer Md. Safaet Hossain, Director of IQAC at UITS, who highlighted the critical importance of accessible artificial intelligence education. Industry expert Shaiful Islam (Founder & CEO, AIQNIC) served as the special guest speaker, providing valuable insights alongside code experts Md. Harun-Ur-Rashid (Software Engineer, Upay by UCB) and Shahriar Azad Evan (Organizer, Machine Learning Bangladesh). The organizers hosts warmly welcomed the attendees, setting a collaborative and high-energy tone for the day. Following the opening addresses, a specialized technical workshop was conducted to prepare the student participants for hands-on development. The training team equipped the attendees with essential beginner-friendly competencies in "vibe coding" and low-code workflows. The session focused on practical methodologies to rapidly construct applications, giving students direct insight into modern ecosystems such as the Gemini API, Google Cloud, Vertex AI, and Google AI Studio. Armed with their newly acquired knowledge, 50 student participants transitioned to the UITS AI Laboratory for an intense, fast-paced, one-hour competitive hackathon sprint. Utilizing the official Devpost hackathon platform, students raced against the clock to design, build, and deploy fully functional software products from scratch. Participants successfully developed a diverse range of projectsโ€”including web apps, mobile apps, APIs, Chrome extensions, and chatbotsโ€”aimed at solving real-world problems. Once the submission window closed, the projects entered a rigorous evaluation phase led by an expert judging panel consisting of Shaiful Islam, Md. Harun-Ur-Rashid, Engineer Md. Safaet Hossain, Al-Imtiaz, and Shahriar Azad Evan. Submissions were critically assessed based on predefined benchmarks, including problem relevance, AI/GCP tool usage, technical execution, UI/UX design, deployment viability, and adherence to development ethics. The action-packed day concluded with a prestigious closing and prize-giving ceremony held at the Ratnagarbha Tahmina Rahman Multipurpose Hall. Outstanding student builders were recognized across multiple competitive tracks, with three winners receiving exclusive Build with AI Swags and Gemini Prize Postcards, and another three receiving Google Swag Kits. Additionally, Featherless AI Inference Credits valued at $300, $150, and $75 were awarded to the top three teams, while every participant walked away with Google Cloud credits, MLH stickers, and .xyz domain rewards. In appreciation of their strategic leadership, CSE Head Al-Imtiaz and IQAC Director Engineer Md. Safaet Hossain were honored with official crests and gifts, alongside the special guests and trainers, marking a successful first step in a nationwide campaign to bring free AI education to over 20 campuses across Bangladesh.
