UITS Vice-Chancellor Attends National Workshop on Transforming Higher Education in Bangladesh: Roadmap to Sustainable Excellence

𝐀𝐛𝐮 𝐇𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐡𝐮𝐢𝐲𝐚𝐧, the honorable Vice-Chancellor of University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS), attended the national workshop titled “𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐡: 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐦𝐚𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞," organized by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh. The day-long workshop was held on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, at the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building Auditorium, University of Dhaka. The honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and delivered his address during the inaugural session. This significant participation reflects UITS’s continued commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and the advancement of higher education in Bangladesh. Arranged by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, the inaugural session was presided over by its Chairman, Prof. Dr. Mamun Ahmed. Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon and the Prime Minister’s Education Adviser Dr. Mahdi Amin attended the event as special guests. Policymakers, UGC members, vice-chancellors of public and private universities, teachers, researchers, MPs, diplomats, industry representatives, and other stakeholders have taken part in the workshop. Five technical sessions were held following the inaugural ceremony. Discussions were focused on graduate employability, soft skills, and demand-driven education; industry-academia collaboration and global competitiveness; digital transformation, digital literacy, and integration of artificial intelligence; faculty development, research excellence, and internationalization; and governance, quality assurance, and institutional reform. According to the UGC, recommendations from the workshop will help formulate a practical policy roadmap for improving higher education in Bangladesh.
